Inventory Management

Tormod - about your point with your idea about inventory management - you could incorporate something similar to Doom 3 where you have a gun and a flashlight, and you can't use both at the same time. It adds suspense because you may need to walk down a dark hallway that could be populated by enemies, and you have 2 choices while walking through:

1)Switch to your flashlight so you can see the enemies (but have an ineffective attack hitting them with the flashlight)
2)Switch to your gun and shoot blindly into the darkness

Usually, you do some toggling between the two, but it creates a great amount of suspense in the game with several "OH SHIT" moments. Thought that might be something you could incorporate as well!
