26 / 10 / 2008 -- Revisitation
Greetings.
Every so often, there is a week that makes up for all the "slow" weeks, where one really has very little to say about anything. This week, my friends, is one of those weeks. Let's get started, shall we?
Phase II, Week IV of Project Omega is completed. This week yielded a fairly comprehensive (if rough) database model that is looking more and more like the final product. Week IV was all about validation of the initial design, and while there are a few major issues, I have no doubts that they will be resolved in the coming design / validation cycles.
Speaking of Project Omega, on a whim, I decided to Google the name and see what came up. Maybe I should have chosen something more...shall we say..."unique"? In summary, basically, the Project Omega here has no relation to the following:
Note that this is a very small handful of content named as "Project Omega", and does not include any that swap the order of the words.
Long ago I did a write-up about a certain advertising site that claimed to pay you for your time while you looked at ads. An intriguing (if laughably infeasible) concept, right? Well, I will happily eat my words, as MyMindshare is officially in the black. That is, whatever "imaginary" money you rack up by viewing ads there can actually be cashed out into the real thing. There are a few conditions, though, like being a verified member of PayPal and a member of good standing at the site itself. But that's pretty easy considering the potential there. I am a big believer in individual rights (like the right not to be hassled by advertising), so finding a site that actually makes good on their promises to pay you for your time is nothing short of excellent.
Should you be inclined enough to give it a shot, check out MyMindshare. All the links in this post will take you to the site, using myself as a referrer; if you actually join, I get $1.00, a full dollar, for referring you. No shame on this end, since I believe it to be helping spread the word of a good cause.
Also, I'd like to throw in a good word for INFINITY, a weekly radio show that myself and a college buddy do on Fridays, courtesy of a news post I have already written for other purposes:
----
Good evening!
Another highly successful mission! With a good mix of chill-out, aggressive, retro, and modern tunes, Mission 5 was the longest (so far) broadcast of the new campaign. On top of that, the recording has been posted already!
Also, we discovered that Friday nights tend to be 3rd (out of 7) for popularity on average each week. While that may not sound so great, consider the context:
- There is a very slim margin between the top-three nights
- 7 - 9 PM is, by far, the most popular slot over all nights
- Friday nights have only one show: INFINITY
- Every other night has at least two shows (with Monday, the number-one night, having four shows)
All in all, this means that INFINITY is doing VERY WELL, and it's all thanks to our excellent listeners! So...thank you!
One more thing - next week's broadcast (Mission 6) will be pushed up by 2 hours due to some Halloween festivities - we will begin at 5 PM instead of 7 PM. This also means (unfortunately) that we will have to cut the mission "short" (ha ha) from the typical near-3-hour length to very-near-2-hour length. So, not quite as much banter back and forth, but hopefully we'll still be able to pump out the same amount of music!
Once again, a big thanks to all our listeners for supporting INFINITY!
Peace!

Of course, if you'd like to listen to the shows live as they're broadcast, give our live stream a visit (there's also a semi-permalink on the right), 7 PM - 9+ PM on Friday nights (Central Time). I think I may throw the show recordings on the main page here, a la the podcast thing we had on long ago, just to get some extra content going. Maybe in a week or so...perhaps?
That's all for now. Hopefully next week will be a little less information dense.
Mr. Bond, signing off.
