19 / 7 / 2008 -- Project Omega...It Begins
Greetings.
Eight months. That's how long it has been since the last post.
...
Quite disappointing. So much has happened since then, and so much has yet to happen.
I feel I've done a fair job describing what I've named "Project Omega" in another place, so rather than repeat myself (and risk doing a far worse job here), I'll tell you to simply read it there. So here, instead of describing
Project Omega, I'll break down this past week's wrap-up.
The objectives this week were to produce a charter for Phase I, as well as research the provisions provided by our web hosting provider,
iPower. Long story short, both objectives have been completed. This marks the first step in a two-
and-a-half year project. While it's not a spectacular success by any means, even finishing the little things is validation to continue.
That said, here's a preview for next week: since Phase I is largely preliminary system documentation and research, the next task is to
research a bit into the technology to be used for Project Omega. The final payload is a full analysis of those technologies to develop
a deeper understanding of why we'll use them. Phase I was designed as a slow start to establish a solid and consistent routine with
visible results. Even at this small level, starting some momentum will have spectacular results farther down the road.
That's about it for now. Just as a heads up, I'll be doing something similar every week from now on...as a wrap-up and evaluation as
well as a preview of coming attractions. Next week's update may be on Sunday night instead of Saturday, as I've got some plans with
a friend for the weekend.
Mr. Bond, signing off.
