6 / 10 / 2008 -- One Additional, More of Another

Greetings.

Tail wind or not, adjusting from a long weekend break to normal studies is difficult under any circumstances. I won't complain too much, though, as I did get a lot of sleep. and I have general feelings of less guilt about it.

Now that the general administrative prep for Phase II is out of the way, things are getting a bit more interesting around here. The goal is to have (near-)complete plans _and_ a working test implementation for the database by the end of Phase II -- no small tasks by any means. As such, many Weeks (from initial planning, anyways) will carry multiple objectives and / or multiple payloads, starting right away with Week II. All this, while the college semester is now taking off in full following the quote-unquote "fall break".

There's no point in denying that I will be busy, but I feel better now than I would have last week under the same cirucumstances, largely because I recently acquired some upgrades for my computers. Nearly tripling the storage space plus doubling the RAM of my primary workstation along with the impending release of version 8.10 of (X/K)Ubuntu, my operating system of choice, has put me in a great mood. While all of this (save for the OS upgrade) did cost me a bit, I am happy with the trade-off between investment and results. On top of that, the college _finally_ decided to break down and purchase more bandwidth...finally some halfway-decent (and consistent) transfer rates. Good feelings all around!

I really wish I could work on more stuff at once, but the mind has a nasty way of closing vital threads in favor of not-so-vital ones. Excuse the lame metaphor...or not, I really don't care.

Mr. Bond, signing off.
