8 / 3 / 2009 -- Look Out

Greetings.

Based on the results of Week X, I am happy to report that the revisions prompted by Week IX were very doable. So doable, in fact, that Phase III is now completely back on course. Long story short, the system worked, and since this kind of thing may / will happen again in the future, it's comforting to know that Project Omega as a whole can recover from unforeseen obstacles.

Earlier in the week, I had to play the role of phone tech support (again). Normally when I do such things, it becomes impossible to focus seriously on anything else, so I decided to take up doodling. Two hours is a lot of time, so to spend it on an unplanned endeavor without possibility of at least some productivity is unacceptable, at best.

My attempts at drawing paid off - rather well, I might emphasize. So now, this marks the first drawing I've ever done and subsequently released into the wild: Look Out for Pac-Man. Now, don't get the wrong idea - I love Pac-Man, and I tout it as one of the finest games ever made, but doing tech support inflicts temporary (sometimes considerable) damage to the mind.

Despite the circumstances, I do love the drawing itself, and it always makes me laugh when I see it. Honestly, I didn't expect it to turn out so well, given that: a) I never draw; and b) I possess terribly low creative aptitude. If nothing else, it gives me a great indication of my drawing style (now that I've discovered I have one), as well as boosting my confidence for graphically-based projects in the future. Yes, I am planning stuff post-Project Omega this early.

A few days after the fact, I do see some (okay, many) flaws in the sketch, but I can't deny it's simple, endearing charm. Never mind that I posted it to DeviantArt, for lack of a good place here to put it (for now). Incidentally, I put a few of the planned ZHP graphics over on dA, too...just for the time being.

In meteorological news, the weather sucks - it is snowing like the dead of winter. AGAIN. I am so glad we had warm weather to melt most of the snow from before, just in time to receive another pile.

Mr. Bond, signing off.
