12 / 10 / 2009 -- Getting to Know You
Greetings.

Business first. Normal talky-talk thereafter.

I thought - past tense - I would be clever and leverage my home Subversion server this past weekend. Instead of manually copying the ZHP code files, I branched the mainline code to a local copy, and then merge the changes when I got back. Expected score - Me: 1, SVN: 0

I wasn't so clever, insomuch as the branch was not the latest version of the code. Actually, it was - the latest revision of the code that was actually committed to the repository. Crap. Turns out I forgot to commit the latest stuff before I took the branch, so I ended up with an older revision. Double crap. So, I couldn't actually finish the objectives I laid out for last week.

I did, however, realize my mistake before doing any permanent damage, and I was able to apply some work towards other things outside the objectives...and then manually merge the modifications. So it wasn't too bad, all things considered, though I am a bit off the expected mark. Missed objectives from last week have carried over to this week. Final score - Me: -3, SVN: 1

In other news, I have some additional public info for Project Omega - some bits about what's going on outside of it at the current time. Rather than repeat it here, I'll simply direct you to the appropriate forum post.

I am considering opening up the Idea Pool again. Instead of using it as a cache for ideas for ZHP to take on, I think I'll post some of the upcoming features. Nothing too detailed or technical, but just something to give you an idea of what is coming. A preview of coming attractions, as it were.

Speaking of, it occurs to me that I don't know you (plural) all too well, and you don't know me too well, either. I'd really like to hear your (also plural) thoughts - about anything, really, though something relevant to here earns bonus points. Drop me a line, or use the forums, if you prefer. I'll have some bio info about me next week, perhaps.

This week's upcoming INFINITY radio show will feature coverage of the mainline Final Fantasy series, from 1 to 12 (no X-2). Don't get used to the preview, though...I rarely know the theme until 24 to 48 hours before.

Mr. Bond, signing off.
